The Super Cultural Evening

Kia Ora,

Yesterday NBC School, St Annes, Catholic Cathedral College, St James, and St Marys got together to do a Cultural Evening. The cultural evening was all about different cultures coming together. All those schools did their own performance, there was Cheer leading, dancing sticks, and so many dances. Our schools Kapa Haka performed, even though we were shaking i think we did very well, here are some photos.

What would you do for cultural day?

😝Book Character Day🥰

Hello!

Today it was Book Character Day, B.C.D is when you pick a book character to dress up as. Anyway, I chose to be Issie, a normal teenager, who is a pro horse rider and sometimes saves the day! Issie owns three of her own horses, Comet, Blaze and Storm. I had blue flared jeans, a purple country top, riding boots and a riding helmet. So… like this,

Have you had book character day?

What character would you dress up as and why?

😝Super Non – Uniform day!🥳

Today NBC School is celebrating Non – Uniform day! And to get into school we had to bring a gift for the Christmas raffle. When the gates opened to walk in, Clifford The Big Red Dog came out to greet us! Clifford was meant to remain a mystery but me and my friend Farrah found out it was just Miss Tyro.

Have you ever done this before?

And if so what were your highlights?

Finding The Fractions Of A Number

Kia Ora!

Last Week we had been learning how to find the fractions of a number, and to show what I had learned I put all on this slideshow. The denominator is how many you split the number into, and the numerator is how many of those numbers you need. I found this new skill very fun and cool to use and learn, and highly recommend trying it.

What do you know about finding fractions?

🤎The Amazing Wetlands🤎

Today the class and I went to the Orua Paeroa ( The Travis Wetlands ) First we talked about the wetlands and how it got its name. After we walked to the information center and learned about how the wetlands used to be spread around Christchurch and how its shrunk when the  European came. Then we got split into groups, half went to bird watch and the other had to catch different water bugs. My half went to the bug station first. We had to split into groups of two or three, I went with my friend Brenna and we caught lots of different bugs with a long stick with a sieve on the end of it. Because we were hungry we had a morning tea break. When we were finished, we went to bird watch, there were lots of different little birds I could see, such as, Paradise Shell Ducks, NZ Shovel Ducks and a Grey Speckled Duck. Finally we went back to where we had morning tea and got given pieces of paper, that had colour on it, with different things on it. We had to get into a group of our colour and figure out our food chain. And we learned that if our water gets polluted the whole food chain can die. Here are some photos of me and my group,

What kind of birds have you seen before?

🎉 The Amazing Duffy Celebration🥳

Kia Ora!

On Tuesday the year 6/7s  went to celebrate Duffy’s 30th anniversary in the town hall, only the year 6/7s went because it was about becoming a leader. It was so cool  there was even a DJ! There were songs blasting through the speakers and kids going crazy in their seats. After a while some people came on stage and we did some ice breakers where someone asked a question and they had to answer it. We even did some cool things like this dance about getting ready for school that merged into a dance about what you do at school. Then there was this thing where they picked some kids and those kids had to go up and guess what some people drew. We were so lucky at the end because we got goody bags filled with some cool stationery like colour changing pens and some notebooks. Someone even struck it rich with some really expensive pens! It was so fun and when I got home I bragged about it to my family.

♱ Mary Art ♱

Hello!

For R.E we were learning about Marys Assumption to heaven, Marys assumption is when God took Mary’s soul AND body up to heaven. By taking Mary to heaven God was trying to show us that one day we can all be made perfect and be raised up like her. We were allowed to colour or draw a picture of Mary to help celebrate her.

Do you know about Marys Assumption?

If so what would your drawing look like?

🌍Kaitiakitanga🌍
